From Pelahatchie, MS

We got a late start today because we were hoping to be able to get some new shocks as ours seem to be shot.  No such luck.  We will try again tomorrow.  There is also something wrong with our idler.  Prayers would be much appreciated!

We managed to drive through three states today.  We crossed the border between Alabama and Mississippi, then from Mississippi into Louisiana, and finally from Louisiana back into Mississippi.  Here are today’s photos:

As we crossed into Mississippi, we stopped at the information center on the border. It looked like it used to be a fancy home or a museum.

I never knew that Elvis was born in Mississippi!

By this time we were facing into the sun and I had so much reflection from the windshield that you can barely make out the "Welcome to Louisiana" sign.

We finally left I-10/12 and turned north just past New Orleans. We crossed back into Mississippi on I-55.

Here, again, we stopped at the information center and I was surprised to find another beautiful, home-like center. I asked the woman at the desk if all the Mississippi information centers were so fancy and she said yes. She said that this one was actually the first to be built in the antebellum style.

This information center was only one-story high, but still elegant.

We headed north on I-55 to Jackson, MS and then turned west on I-20. Our campground is another Jellystone park on a lake. We are happy to be here in the off-season when the park is extremely quiet!

After spending tonight in Mississippi, there will only be three states left that we haven’t slept in.  We’ll get to two more of them within the next few days.
