This morning we woke up to nice weather. We went into work and I found out that Rose wanted me to work on the book shelves. We have a little shelf out in the laundry room and a big shelf on the enclosed back porch of the main building. Rose had a friend bequeath boxes and boxes of books to her and she wanted to use them all.
I was on the back porch working on the shelves when it began to rain. There was a cool draft coming in. Within minutes we had lightning and thunder and then we had hail. I heard Mark and our co-worker, Mike, saying, “Well I guess we won’t be working on electrical problems or bearing metallic tools in this.” They opted to go paint the inside of the gas station that’s affiliated with our campground.
Meanwhile, every camper who came in after the storm was exhausted from trying to keep control of their 5th wheels or motorhomes in the wind which continued all afternoon. They all asked if this was typical weather and we were able to reassure them that it isn’t usually this way.
I spent the better part of the day going through the boxes of books, dividing them by those that would appeal to women only (for the laundry room where most of the wives do the wash), books for kids and young adults, hardbacks for the big shelves on the back porch, and compacting the rest into fewer but sturdier boxes. It felt good to be working with books again. I was very proud of the way everything looked when I was finished. Rose wants me to take care of the book shelves the rest of the summer. 🙂
