From Price, UT

Yesterday morning, Pastor Adam came and prayed with us before we left. We’re making our trip north for spring; this is the first year I’ve been sad to leave Arizona. In past years, I have been working at Block Advisors, and by now, I would be a nervous wreck with tics and heavy sighs. This winter, I felt like I found my calling, and, as much as I enjoy my job at the Noble House, I don’t feel as fulfilled in Wisconsin as I have this winter.

Easter Sunday

I’m still trying to learn how to use my new Chromebook so I apologize for not writing since we left Tucson. I’ll see if I can catch you up.

Patsy Lopez at church gave me a haircut on Monday during the quilt group. Thank you, Patsy!
When we got up north of Phoenix on Tuesday, we stopped to have lunch with Serenity and Jose. It was so good to see them. They are under a lot of stress right now between her disability and his immigration status. Please pray for them.
We drove until we got to Flagstaff last night. We had hoped to stay at the Walmart there, but they didn’t allow overnight parking. We went over to Cracker Barrel about a quarter of a mile away and they allowed us to stay, but we had to park in a crowded area behind the restaurant and leave by 7:00 this morning. Mark was not a happy camper.
We started seeing some interesting rock formations as we drove today.
We pulled over to take some pictures at the border of Utah. This is Monument Valley.
Mark climbed up on the RV to get some better pictures!
I figured if he could climb up there to take a picture, so could I!
As we passed this rock, Mark told me that when he was a kid, he used to call this the Grandma Rock. I asked why he called it that and he said it was because she was shaped like this!

Coming into Price, UT
We’ll be staying at this campground for the next 5 days.

Mark and I have come to Price to look around as a prospective place to move to next year. We’re talking about selling our house in Door County after this summer and buying a house in Price next year. This all came about because I started getting tired of Mark being gone sometimes for 2 or 3 nights last summer when BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) had a need for escorts for heroes (the kids) when they had court hearings last summer. I suggested that we move closer to Green Bay so that he could come home every night after court was over, and we started looking for places near Algoma, but then he up and decided he wanted to move to Utah, his birth state. He chose Price because there’s a BACA group here.

Unfortunately, when we pulled into our campsite for tonight, Mark discovered that there was a problem with our electric power. We’re sitting in the semi-dark as I write this so as not to use up our battery power. I’m thinking we may have to spend a little time at the local library to charge our devices, although Mark seems to have rigged something up that’s helping to charge my Chromebook as I’m writing this. I was afraid that this problem was going to preclude us being able to look around if Mark has to spend the whole time we’re here working on the electricity, but he says that no matter what, we will be doing some exploring here. When we checked in, the manager handed us a brochure about a 9-mile canyon drive we can drive if we have time, and I want to check out one or two churches on Sunday.

I think I’m beginning to get the knack of this Chromebook, so I’ll try to be more regular with my reports on this trip.
