As the day wore on yesterday, the pain in my ankle got worse and worse, and the prescription painkillers the doctor had sent home with me weren’t touching the pain. I finally asked Mark to take me back to the ER.
This time, the ER was full, and Mark and I sat in my room for several hours before the doctor could see me. I guess it’s not always as fast as it was in the morning. I didn’t get seen until around midnight, and then she ordered X-rays, and that took a long time. We didn’t leave until 2:00 AM!

However, the doctor gave me a shot of morphine. I’m allergic to morphine, so she also gave me an anti-nausea pill because morphine was the only thing that was going to kill the pain. It calmed everything down, and I started getting drowsy.

Mark and I were exhausted when we got home, and we went straight to bed. Mark got up to feed the dog and take her out this morning, but I slept most of the day. I tried to read emails and such, but I just couldn’t keep my eyes open. I suspect that had something to do with the morphine. This afternoon, Mark also came back to bed and took a nap. Hopefully, I won’t have to take any more heavy-duty painkillers for the rest of this trip.
