We are getting a pretty good idea what this summer will be like this weekend. One thing I can say about it is that I will have a more difficult time blogging or e-mailing because when the park is full, the internet won’t work. I am writing this while sitting in a McDonalds in Salisaw.
We had a $900 day today. I had scheduled three train rides, but so many kids wanted to ride that we had to run the train five times. We have been offering to glaze people’s ceramics for them, but my helpers spent all afternoon glazing and still didn’t finish, so after they finish today’s ceramics we’re going to have to tell people they can come back and glaze their own if they want to. Supplies are already running out, so after we’re done with dinner we’re going to go buy some more at Walmart.
Mark and I had spent several days mending the volleyball net, and today some kids pulled it down and destroyed it. Mark was pretty angry, but I reminded him that this is just the beginning of the summer, and if he gets upset about everything kids do wrong, it’s going to be a miserable summer. Kids are destructive. I reminded him that his four year old granddaughter used to come over and destroy his model cars and he said, “That was different!” I had to smile.
