We have been very busy with the house, and we’re getting close to being done with what we can do before we head to Tucson. Mark has spent the last few weeks sanding walls and pulling up flooring in preparation for our last two projects.
Today, we had a wallpaperer named Isaac come to put up our murals. He’s from England and has a wonderful accent! He met his wife when she was doing a teacher exchange program over there. She is from Oregon, so every year they go up to the Oregon beach, where she spent many happy summers as a child. Every two years, they go to England to visit his family. He arrived much earlier than we had expected this morning and had breakfast with us, so that’s where I learned all about him.

While Isaac spent the afternoon hanging murals, I was at church watching the gift shop for my pastor while there was a blood drive in another room. I had donated some things to the gift shop that hadn’t been put out yet, so I put them out. Also, my pastor showed me where the fabrics were from when they had a quilt group. They are in cupboards all around the gift shop, so I opened one cupboard and sorted through all the fabrics there.
Another thing that happened this afternoon is we acquired an 8-week-old puppy from our nextdoor neighbors. They have a veterinarian clinic and someone brought two stray puppies in. They found a home for one of them, but they hadn’t found a home for this one and they thought of us. Mark has been wanting another dog as a companion for Tucson, although she isn’t sure she likes the idea.

Price isn’t house trained yet, and he’s still teething. Mark got some pee pads for him and we’ll put him in the bathroom with them tonight. Mark also got him some chew toys. Tucson isn’t having anything to do with him right now. We’ve been trying to give her a lot of attention too so that she knows he isn’t a threat to our affection for her. Price follows her around like a little shadow. I was hoping her maternal instincts would come out, but she’s used to being our baby. Hopefully, she’ll get used to him after a while.
