Done, except for the pay!

This morning I was sitting at the table checking e-mails while Mark went to the VA for a fasting blood draw.  All the blinds were closed.  As I was sitting here I became aware that the chain link fence next to the RV was rattling, so I opened the blinds to see what was happening.  What was happening was that the fence company was taking the fence away.  I called our boss and he said he was aware of that and they would be bringing a trailer out this afternoon to pick up everything that belongs to Holiday Hills Christmas Trees.

Mark and I had pretty much finished the tear down yesterday but there were a few things left to do.  When Mark got home he worked some more on the stuff in the tent and I worked some more on organizing the office things in the RV.  I was so eager to clear space in the RV that I began carrying the office stuff outside and setting it near our front door.

The trailer and several other vehicles arrived around 3:00.  We had everything laid out and waiting for them.  There were about four or five men there to help load the trailer and tear down my booth.  It got later and later and Mark finally suggested I go reserve us a spot at the KOA up the road from us.

When I went into KOA to ask for a site, the people at the desk looked at me like I was crazy.  They looked out their window and said, “Where’s your RV?”  I told them we were the lot operators at the Christmas tree lot and that my husband was helping to load the lot stuff into a trailer.

When I got back to the lot, the guys were just finishing up.  It was so dark that one of them was shining his headlights into the tent so they could see.  After they left, we had some packing up to do ourselves.  We had saved one small tree for our Christmas which we plan to have in a few days.  When we were ready, Mark poured the water out and put the tree inside the RV.  I led the way to the KOA in my car.

One of the most beautiful sights I’ve seen was the man at KOA coming out to help us.  He came up to my window and said, “You’re the Christmas tree people, right?”  He had cones out to protect our long motorhome and tow dolly which stuck a little way into the road.  Tomorrow we can rearrange our vehicles so they fit better, but for tonight we just wanted to get hooked up and settled in.

Sometime before Wednesday we will be called into the office in San Antonio to talk about the season and receive our pay.  Then Friday we have to go back to pick up some things that are being sent to us there and we will finally be done with this company!

Here are some before pictures from when we first started and some after pictures from tonight:
