Mark had to have a procedure done at the VA hospital this morning. As we were walking into the building, I noticed a sign that pointed to a rose garden, so when they sent me away, I went looking for it.

Supportive friends
I haven’t particularly felt any grief over the loss of my father; whether it’s because I left no unfinished business with him when I flew back to Tucson, whether it was because I knew when I left Oregon that I would probably never see him again and said my goodbyes then, or because I am in shock and it doesn’t seem real yet. But I have received a lot of support and condolences from my friends. Thank you to those of you who have sent me cards and condolences too!

RIP Dad!
Just a quick report as it’s gotten late.

I went to my church for the first time since I’ve been back, and I asked for prayer for my family, especially for my sister, Lauryn. I would ask the same of those of you who pray.

Dad had a bad fall this morning. He landed hard on his rear and got a gash in his arm. Elaine called hospice and they called an ambulance. Lauryn and Rob rushed over.

Traditionally, Mark and I go to Tombstone for his birthday on March 14th, but I wasn’t here then, so we went today. In the meantime, today was Lauryn’s first day with Dad. She had asked him where he’d like to go for a drive and he wanted to go to the Aviation and Space Center in McMinville, Oregon. They have the Spruce Goose there, the plane that Howard Hughes built. I’ll share pictures from both trips.

Yesterday, I showed a picture of the bench I thought I was going to sleep on. I wasn’t able to get to sleep on it for very long, so I moved to some chairs with a back I could lay my head on, but that didn’t work very well either. I got a few winks in but spent most of the night working on crossword puzzles. I had left a message in my last post for someone to call me at 5:00 this morning to make sure I was awake for my flight. My mother, God bless her soul, did! I was already awake anyway, but I was glad she called.

Elaine had made arrangements to visit her sisters in Dallas, Oregon for lunch today and I told her I’d sit with Dad so she could go. It was four hours that I got to spend with Dad, perhaps for the last time since I’m flying back to Tucson tomorrow.

This morning, I had an appointment at Miracle-Ear at 11:00, but I had to stop by Dad’s house to get the address first. Dad kept thinking that his hearing aids were over next to the computer and he couldn’t understand why I was going to their office to pick them up.
