God’s bountiful provision

When I was young, about forty years ago, there was a series of record albums (remember those?) called Environments.  The creator of the albums would go to some remote place like the ocean or a lake during a storm and record the sounds.  Each side of the album would play about half an hour of whatever the microphone caught and for that glorious amount of time, you could be transported there within the confines of your own home. From Harris, MI

Today we crossed the Mackinac Bridge into the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan.  We can now say that we have slept in all forty-nine continental states and we’ve seen four of the five Great Lakes.  (We saw Lake Huron while crossing the bridge today.  The only one we haven’t seen yet is Lake Superior.) From Indian River, MI

We headed north yesterday and there wasn’t anything particularly remarkable about our trip, but we landed at Burt Lake State Park for the night and took lots of pictures of the sunset over the lake.  I was up late processing my one hundred ninety six photos so didn’t have a chance to write.  The following is just a handful of the photos I took: Continue reading

From Ypsilanti, MI

We only had about a three hour drive east across the state of Michigan today.  Our destination was Ypsilanti which is kind of like a suburb of Detroit.  We’re here for a one day Bible conference that Our Daily Bread Ministries will be putting on tomorrow. Continue reading

Plan B

This morning we called several service centers to see if they could work on our RV but they all said no.  Finally, Mark asked at the office of the park we’re staying in to see if there was anyone they could recommend.  They recommended a little shop not far from here so we took the RV to the shop. A sort of fasting and a pouring down of blessings

Yesterday (Monday) Mark had an orientation at the VA in the morning and I slept in.  When I got up I waited till a reasonable hour Pacific Time and called my older sister to discuss some neat things I’ve been learning in my women’s Bible study.  While I talked with her on the phone I had cold pizza from the day before and a Coke.  After Mark’s orientation, he went to McDonalds for lunch and then made a couple “guy” stops.  Little did we know that those lunches would be the last real meals we’d have for over 24 hours. The LA Times story by John Glionna

Those of you who have been with me for a while will remember that last summer when we were working in Door County, a reporter named John Glionna and a photographer named Francine Orr came out from the LA Times to tag along with us, interview us, and photograph us.  One thing and another came along and the story was put off.  John just wrote to me to ask if I’d seen the story online. A new forwarding address

A number of you sent us Christmas cards that we haven’t received yet.  We have been using the UPS Store in Bellingham, WA as our forwarding address for nearly a year.  Problem is, they weren’t forwarding our mail to us.  In the year, we might have gotten four or five mailings, if that.  I could never reach them by phone, and I could seldom reach them by email.  It has been a very frustrating experience.
