This has been a positively exciting week! It started on Monday when I had lunch with a business consultant… Continue reading

The hunt
Several of you have asked whether I got the job I interviewed for at the Ephraim Historical Museum. I didn’t get it, but the interviewer sent me an email asking if I’d like to have my name put in for a Visitor Information job in Ephraim. I politely declined. I would have gone the distance for the museum job, but not for another Visitor Information job. I already have one of those. Continue reading
Job interview and etc.
I showed the pictures of Mark blow-torching the cellar doors yesterday so that he could get in and turn on the water. I failed to mention that when he tried to turn on the water pump, there was a crack and water sprayed everywhere, so we don’t have water to the house yet. This also means we don’t have heat in the house because our registers run water through to heat the house. Mark called a plumber this morning and they said they’d try to make it to our house by this afternoon, but it didn’t happen. Hopefully, they can come and fix the leak tomorrow morning. Desert flora
I have been fascinated by the many different types of cacti I’ve seen since we’ve been here. Today I only worked half a day and took a taxi home (more about that later), so I decided to walk around Mission View RV Resort and do some photographing… Continue reading

Reflection on this summer
Today was my last day at Seaquist and my last day at Tea Thyme was about a month ago. We have a little over a week to go before we hit the road in our RV. I thought this might be a good opportunity to reflect on lessons learned this summer. Continue reading
New job for next year!
I have already begun thinking about next year’s employment, and in fact, I have a new part-time job lined up for next summer. Last year I went through the training to become a Certified Tourism Ambassador and I love talking about Door County, so what could be more natural than working in the Ellison Bay Information Center? Here is something from the newsletter my new boss, Mickie Rasch, sent out: Continue reading
An interesting turn of events
Tuesday and Wednesday were my days off, and that’s when I did all the job hunting I wrote about in my last post. I believe I have been hired at Tea Thyme In Door County which is owned by the women that live across the street from us. I’m to meet with Karen on Monday morning at 10:00 to firm that up a bit. So far, they are talking about needing me for ten hours a week in the mornings. Continue reading
Some intriguing possibilities
Yesterday I went through the rest of the ads I saw in the Help Wanted section of The Pulse. I finished contacting all the ones that had looked like possibilities for me. Not that they all responded, but I had gone through all the known jobs. Continue reading
Job hunting, day four… and success!
I had two interviews lined up for today and one tomorrow, plus there was a message on my answering machine from someone else who was trying to line up an interview with me, but after the first interview today I was hired! This was the place where the assistant manager had sounded so interested in me last week, and today I was interviewed by the manager. Continue reading
