Tombstone 2021

Go west, young man! Go west! Well, at 67, I don’t know that Mark qualifies as a young man anymore, but he certainly does love the Southwest and Tombstone in particular.

We don’t do things like go to the reenactment of the shootout at the OK Corral anymore, but we enjoy walking up and down the boardwalks and going into the little shops. Today for the first time, we took Tucson with us which meant that for the most part, one of us had to sit outside with her while the other one went in and looked around.

Some things never change!

Looking in the opposite direction, you can see a man dressed for the scene coming up the boardwalk.
Tucson hates wearing a head collar, but it’s the only way we can keep her from running away with us! You can just look into her big brown eyes and see how sad she is about it.

Finally, Mark and I were getting hungry and he took her back to the car where he had put her food and water so that we could go into a restaurant and order our food and water. We ate at the Longhorn Restaurant that I pointed out earlier.

This is a lighted mural inside the Longhorn restaurant that depicts the shootout at the OK Corral. On the left are Wyatt, Morgan, and Virgil Earp, and Doc Holliday. On the right are the Clantons and the McLaurys. You can see which ones got the worst of the fight, although Virgil and Morgan were hit too. Wyatt Earp was never wounded in any of the gunfights he was in.

Mark had some birthday money and he bought a T-shirt, a gold and silver bolo tie, and a bib shirt for himself. He bought me a beautiful green velvet top. We went into the church when we got home and Mark took a selfie of us dressed up in our fancy new clothes. When I tried putting the camera card into my computer to import it, something went wrong and it wiped the pictures off the card. I took a shot of Mark sitting in his favorite chair with his bib shirt on, and I turned it sepia-colored.

We didn’t get an old-fashioned picture taken of us this year, so this is my version.

A good time was had by all!
