From Kansas City, MO

I promised to show a photo of the “ghost town” where we waited out the storm yesterday.

This morning it was a short trip through the panhandle of Oklahoma to Liberal, KS.  Mark took me to see Dorothy Gale’s house (as in “The Wizard of Oz”).

This was actually a house that had been built in 1907 (same year Frank L. Baum wrote The Wizard of Oz), not the house from the movie.

This afternoon, we had an unexpected stop after fighting heavy winds.  We heard a loud thump that shook the RV, so Mark pulled over to see what it was.

One of our slide out toppers had broken and hit the top of the RV…

…and left a gash in our roof that Mark had to repair. Fortunately, he had everything he needed to do the job.

Finally, we made another planned stop.  In 2006, I graduated from Emporia State University with a Masters of Library Science.  I never saw my Alma Mater.  I took the training through a distance program in Oregon and Emporia State University is in Kansas.  Today, I finally got to see the college I graduated from!

The school mascot… I think it’s supposed to be a hornet.

The school buildings themselves were not particularly interesting architecturally.  I had hoped it would be a pretty campus, but you’ve now seen the best there was to see as far as I could tell.

Gotta go to bed now.
