Dog wash at the farm store

It’s amazing the kinds of things you can find at the Tractor Supply Co.  Right now, they have their baby chicks, but we went today for a different critter.  It’s been a couple weeks since it’s been warm enough to give Tucson a bath, and I think she’s already outgrown the bin we got for washing her in.  We have seen signs before that Tractor Supply Co has a dog wash, but we’ve never been able to find it until today.

The dog wash is in it’s own separate room and they provide all the supplies.  It was a pretty nice setup!

Mark and the dirty dog

Notice that Tucson’s ears aren’t laying as flat.  They are starting to get strong from the bottom up.  Soon, they will be standing up like a regular German Shepherd.

Get her all wet

Such mournful eyes!

Shampoo her (Her shampoo makes her smell like raspberries!)

Rinse her off

Shake! Shake! Shake!

Wet dog

Towel dry her

Comb her

Blow dry her and give her a treat!

One of the park hostesses told me recently that the way to get a dog to enjoy a bath is to immediately give it a treat afterwards.  Tucson wasn’t interested in the bacon-like treats I had in my hand until we were all finished drying her.

The pictures above make it look like Tucson was a well-behaved, cooperative puppy, but these pictures were just the ones that didn’t come out blurry while she was trying to get away.  You can also see how big she’s getting!  She weighs thirteen and a half pounds today.
