2nd Annual NRVIA Conference: Day 2

This being Sunday, today began with Scripture reading and prayer.  I just can’t get over the fact that Steve and Coop are so open about this organization being built on faith in God.  How many organizations that aren’t specifically church related actually include God in the course of their business meetings?  I admire them for doing this.

After morning prayer, we had a touch of humor as the NRVIA store tried to sell off as much of what they had left as possible.  Then we got into the sessions for the day.

A bit of a morning worship service.

Mark J Kohler is a CPA and a business lawyer. He has a radio show and he's written several books. I think he's helped all of us set up our business entities. When Mark and I were going through the process we had one of his other lawyers work with us and we weren't very happy, so I went up to talk with him afterward and he said to schedule a free follow up call with him so he can make sure we're satisfied.

This is Tom Johnson and Barney Gerdts from JG Lubricants. When we do a premium inspection for a client, we have several different fluid samples we can take and have tested. The two most common are the oil test and the transmission fluid test. This is the company we send the samples to and they come right back with a report about the engine's health based on the fluid samples. These guys are amazing!

RVT.com which is, I guess, the second biggest seller of dealership RV's, just signed an agreement with NRVIA on Thursday to have inspectors do a Certified Pre-Owned inspection for the dealerships. They are going to tell all the dealerships that advertise with them that they need to get these inspections. They list over 73,000 RV's annually. We currently have something over 300 inspectors in the RVIC. Steve said even if we inspected 1% of all the RV's they sell, we'd be overwhelmed. Things are really going to be rolling as of January 1st. Wow!

That was a tough act to follow, but the next speaker, Brian Hahn, was talking about marketing our businesses on Facebook. Mark and I are working on developing a business Facebook entity. I'll make an announcement when we're ready to go with that. Hopefully some of you can spread the word for us.

The afternoon ended with an open forum with the IMT’s, and then we had a two-hour break to go home and get spiffed up and come back for the NRVIA awards banquet.

Bob Nielsen (with the microphone) was telling everyone where he got his signs made and how much it cost so maybe we could get some too.

An award was given to someone who couldn't attend so they videotaped his acceptance speech.

Then Coop called his wife, Lady E, up and praised her for the help and support she's given to him. He gave her a kiss!

A couple minutes later he was talking and had to stop for a moment to keep from crying. I love that about him. He has a tender heart.

After two lunches where they collected donations for the domestic violence shelter, they passed the bucket a third time at the banquet and were able to present the shelter with nearly $3000. I got a chance to talk with Shoshana Wells on the way out and she said that's the largest donation the shelter has ever received.

When I got home I called my mother’s house to see how Cal was doing and he answered the phone himself!  His voice is croaky, but I was able to hear him.  Thank you all for your prayers.

Mom said that she had hoped to bring him home yesterday, but someone at the hospital had accidently injured him and they kept him another day to see that that was cleared up.  He came home today and his children came over to see him.  Mom was in good spirits.

Cal’s radiation treatment begins tomorrow, so keep those prayers coming!
