Praise the Lord!!!

I have been really stressed lately about the fact that we didn’t have a job lined up for this winter.  Our job here ends on October 19th and the only jobs I was finding offered no pay other than a site for our RV or they were in the wrong part of the country.  I had originally thought I wanted to be in Mississippi or Alabama this winter, but when I couldn’t find work there I expanded to the entire southeastern United States.  I put our resume out and made inquiries and no one responded.

Before Labor Day weekend I saw an ad for a job in Florida that actually pays money.  I sent our resume and a cover letter to Fun-N-Sun RV Resort in Sarasota, Florida and didn’t hear back from them all weekend, so yesterday I wrote again to ask if they’d gotten our resume.  They replied that they had, but that was all they said.  Then last evening Mark got an email from the head of housekeeping there.  She asked if she could set up a phone interview with us.  We let her know that we’d be available at 3:00 today.

We had that phone conversation with her this afternoon and she said our resume was her first pick of the pile.  She told us a bit about the job.  It will be about forty hours per person per week at minimum wage.  We will need to pay for our site but our pay will more than cover that.  We will also get 50% off at a couple restaurants they have on site.  They will provide shirts for us to wear.  This is a huge resort so we won’t be the only cleaners.  We will work together and have the same days off every week.  We will start around mid-December (after taking a drug screen test) and finish mid-April, perfect for us to return to Wisconsin next summer.  We told her we are interested and she said she will send us more information.  (Thank You, Jesus!)

So since we won’t be starting till mid-December, Mark and I are looking at the possibility of taking a road trip.  Our last day here is October 19th, as I said before, and there is an RV inspector’s conference we are signed up for in Heber Springs, Arkansas from the 23rd through the 25th.  After that I’d like to see nearly every state east of the Mississippi River and even up into Canada for a few days.  There are places to go, things to do, and people to see.  Mark looked quite exhausted after I mapped out everywhere I want to go!  Now to check into the practicalities of it…

Please pray for God’s guidance for us as we contemplate our immediate future!
