Thanksgiving and dancing for joy!

I just realized I haven’t written in nearly a week.  It’s not that I haven’t had things to write about, but I’ve been busy experiencing things to write about.

First I want to share about a couple answered prayers.

A couple months ago Mark was driving my PriusV, and because it doesn’t require putting a key in the ignition, he set the key on the dashboard.  At some point when he was turning a corner, the key fell off the dashboard.  We figured we’d be able to find it when we stopped, but we looked on the floor, under the seats, and everywhere else we could think of and it was gone.  We knew it was still in the car because we couldn’t lock the car.  (It won’t let you lock yourself out.)  I have been living in fear that if someone tried jumping in the car and starting it up, they could easily steal it.  Mark took everything out of the car one day and still couldn’t find the key.  Yesterday we took my car in to Toyota for regular maintenance and I asked the person who was checking us in if they could look for our key.  To our great relief and joy, they found it!  Thank you, Jesus!

A week ago we went down to Seattle to open a checking account in the credit union that gave us the loan for our RV.  While we were talking with the woman who was setting things up for us, she said they could also give us a better rate on my car payments.  I’ve been paying 4.99% to Toyota Financial, but WSECU was able to offer a loan at 2.74%.  They just needed a few things from me, including my car registration.  I knew I’d had my car registration at the time we got our new RV, but everything has been so disorganized as we’ve been trying to figure out where everything should go with less space to put it in that we’ve been having a hard time finding all sorts of things.  I really wanted the better rate, so I started praying that God would help me find that registration.  I found it two days ago.  Praise the Lord!  Today we went back down to Seattle and signed the papers for our new car loan.

Today is Valentines Day.  For several weeks I’ve been looking forward to going to an adult dance at Mark’s church.  I had no idea what to expect.  We arrived ten minutes early and my first impression was that we were at a prom.  The gymnasium had been turned into a romantic dance floor.  There were gauzy drapes hanging from the ceiling with a mirrored ball casting lights all over the place.  There was a little area at one end of the room that was specially decorated for taking pictures of the happy couples.  There were chocolate covered strawberries and fruit and veggies and chocolate kisses and punch.

My second impression was that I was in the wrong place.  The first few tunes that were played were from an era previous to the Baby Boomer generation.  It was more like something that would have been popular in my mother’s day.  However, the DJ had planned a program that spanned many generations.  The adults that came to the dance also spanned many generations.  There were several that were young enough they probably could have gone to a youth dance, but there were also those who were gray haired.  The DJ played everything from Chattenooga Choo Choo  to break dancing music from the 80’s and 90’s.  Being Hispanic, he also played some mariachi music.

Mark and I danced till we hurt, but we had such a good time.  We haven’t been dancing since our wedding reception and we are definitely out of shape, but we sure did have fun!  What a perfect way to celebrate Valentines Day and our love for each other!
